Senior Ministry

The purpose of the Senior Citizen Grocery Shopping Ministry is to provide grocery shopping transportation service to senior citizens of St. Joseph AME Church. This service is provided ONLY to members of St. Joseph. The ministry was established in 2007 with a team of volunteer drivers.

General Guidelines of Service
  • The service is intended to serve senior citizens who no longer drive or who do not have access to personal transportation.
  • Senior citizens must be ambulatory or if wheelchair bound, should be able to operate a mobile grocery shopping cart.
  • On the day of shopping, senior citizens must be prepared and ready at the designated pick-up time.
  • Service will provide morning grocery shopping once a week at the most frequently shopped grocery stores.

During the coronavirus pandemic, grocery shopping occurs once every two weeks instead of once every week.
