Usher Boards

 The purpose of the Usher Board is to be of service to the congregation as they worship. Responsibilities include greeting worshipers with a friendly smile, escorting worshipers and visitors to their seats, receiving the offering, and providing ushering services to the members of the St. Joseph’s AME Church and organizations as requested. 

The requirements of the Usher Board are to be a member of St. Joseph AME Church, be able to usher at least 5 times per year and maintain good financial standing by paying yearly membership dues and be available to assist the pastor when he visits guest churches.

St. Joseph has three Usher Boards – the Ladies Usher Board, the Men Usher Board and the Junior Usher Board. 

Ladies Usher Board
The Ladies Usher Board is required to usher on the 2nd and 5th Sundays and at the 8 AM service on the 3rd Sunday in June which is Father’s Day. White dress or suit is the attire for April through September and black dress or suit for October through March.

The Ladies Usher Board meets on the 2nd Sundays in March, June, September and December. Currently, Remell Clemons is the President. 
 
The Usher Board serves a repast during the month of October. The Ladies Ushers serve breakfast on the 1st and 3rd Sundays and the Men’s Ushers serve on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.

Men Usher Board
The Men Usher Board usher every Sunday at the 8 AM worship service. Membership is open to all male members of the church who are regular attendees and are in good standing. The Men Usher Board has call meetings as needed. Currently, Leavie J. Davis, Jr. is the President. 

Junior Usher Board
The Junior Usher Board ushers on the 3rd Sunday which is Youth Sunday. Members which are children and youth of all ages are paired with veteran Junior Usher Board members or one of the adult directors for training and guidance. Rehearsal occurs after the 11 AM Sunday service. The Junior Usher Board is under the leadership of Gail Hollowell and Felicia Izzard.
